Phillipa and Andrew didn't want their bathroom finished quickly. They wanted it finished well. We worked one job at a time at Cashmere, and the brief — slow-built, considered, architectural — was the easy bit. Sourcing the hand-glazed Spanish terracotta tile took fourteen weeks alone.

We took the clumsy 1990s plasterboard back to the original 1920s framing and rebuilt with sympathetic joinery: a freestanding stone basin on a custom kauri vanity, a polished concrete shower base, and brushed brass everywhere brass would have been in 1925.

The build itself ran fourteen weeks on site. A finished bathroom this considered takes the time it takes.
