What we charge, and what we don't pretend to know yet
We charge one thing today: $395 incl. GST for a measure-and-design visit, credited in full against a renovation contract signed within 6 months. Every renovation figure on this site is a published market band with its source next to it, because our own package prices do not exist until we hold real crew quotes.

How a contract is paid
Proposed schedule. Nothing is paid before there is a signed fixed-price contract, and every stage is paid against work that has actually happened.
| Stage | When | Why it sits there |
|---|---|---|
| 20% | On signing, less your visit credit | Orders tiles, membrane, vanity and fittings so they are on site before strip-out day. |
| 35% | Strip-out, framing repairs and plumbing rough-in complete | The trades that have been on site are paid on their own milestones from this. |
| 35% | Membrane photographed and tiling complete | The membrane record exists before this is invoiced, not after. |
| 10% | On completion, released with the records pack | You hold the last payment until the documentation is in your hands. |
This schedule is confirmed against the bathroom crew's own terms before the first contract, and it appears in the contract itself. We did not find published New Zealand norms for bathroom deposits and milestones, so we are not going to claim this is the industry standard.
The honest bits
Card fees
The visit goes through Stripe Checkout, so no card details touch this site. Stripe's domestic rate is 2.65% + NZ$0.30, which is about $10.77 on a $395 visit. On a contract milestone the fee gets material, so bank transfer is offered for those with card as an option.
GST
We register for GST before the first renovation contract: three typical jobs pass IRD's $60,000 threshold. Our own prices are shown incl. GST. Published bands from other sources are shown with the GST status that source states, and where a source does not state one, the page says so.
Refunds on the visit
Fully refundable until 24 hours before the confirmed time, if we cannot offer a visit within 10 working days of payment, or if the plan is not delivered within 5 working days of the visit. After delivery it is not refundable, because you have the plan and the budget, and it is still credited to a contract signed within 6 months. Set out in the terms of trade.
What the visit fee is not
It is not a deposit, it does not reserve a build slot, and it does not commit you to anything. If you take the plan to another company, you lose the credit and keep the plan.
Pricing questions
What do you actually charge?
One thing today: the $395 incl. GST measure-and-design visit, credited in full to a renovation contract signed with us within 6 months. Package prices come later, once we hold crew quotes. Until then, the ranges on this site are published market bands, not our prices.
Why won't you publish a package price?
Because we would be making it up. A from-price has to come from a real quote on a real scope from the crew that would do the work. We hold none yet. Publishing a number before then would be exactly the kind of thing this site is built to avoid.
Is the payment schedule fixed?
It is what we propose: 20 / 35 / 35 / 10, with the visit fee credited against the first payment. It has to be confirmed against the bathroom crew's own terms before the first contract, and it will be in the contract you sign rather than a promise on a page. We did not find published New Zealand norms for bathroom deposits and milestones.
Can I pay by bank transfer?
For the contract milestones, yes, and we would rather you did: a 20% deposit on a $28,750 job costs about $142 in card fees. The $395 visit goes through Stripe, where the fee is 2.65% + $0.30, about $10.77.
Are you GST registered?
Not yet. We register before the first renovation contract, because three typical jobs pass IRD's $60,000 threshold. All our own prices are shown incl. GST. Published figures from other sources are shown with whatever GST status that source states, and where a source does not state one we say so rather than guessing.
What about variations?
What is found behind the tiles is priced and agreed in writing before it is fixed, not added to an invoice afterwards. That is why the budget from the visit carries a contingency line of 15–20% (Superior Renovations) rather than a single tidy number.
